ABOUT
I am an artist based in Portland, ME. I am interested in different ways of telling stories, and I tend to work in many mediums. Recently, this has involved experimenting with ceramics, animation, and zine and book making. I am excited about how different mediums offer different ways of telling stories— the different things that can happen when the story is in an object, or in a moving image, or in a book with writing. I am interested in how these ways of communicating can build off of one another and be in a conversation.
Most of my recent work has been directly and indirectly informed by my experience of chronic illness. The work has been a way to make sense of something that is constantly shifting, and it has been a way to both play and mourn. It has been a means of expressing and connecting around something that can be extremely isolating.
All that said, a lot of my work comes down to drawing weird figures doing things.
